Questions, answered plainly.
The basics
What is MotionRepo?
It reads a GitHub repository and makes the launch content from the code: short teasers, longer walkthroughs, a sales PDF and a technical PDF.
Does MotionRepo change my code?
No. It reads your repository and never writes to it. Videos and PDFs are kept separately.
Which repositories can I use?
Any repository you install the MotionRepo GitHub app on, private ones included. Public repositories can also be added by pasting their link.
Do I need to install anything?
Not for the hosted plans. For a self-hosted license you need Node.js 20 or Docker, Redis, Git and your own Claude account.
Videos
How long does a video take?
In our runs a launch teaser took about 8 minutes and a two-minute walkthrough about 46 minutes. It depends on the repository and the length.
What does a video cost to make?
A launch teaser is 2 credits, a walkthrough 3 for up to a minute, 4 for up to two and 6 for three. The sales and technical PDFs together are 1. Voice narration and style references are free.
Can I change a video after it is made?
Yes. Write a note, for example "slower, and show the pricing page", and the video is revised. The previous version is kept so you can go back.
Which voices and languages are there?
Five English voices, American and British, or no voice at all. Other languages are not available yet.
Can it match our brand?
Give it a style reference: a link, photo or video whose look you like, and it follows that look. Logo upload and brand kits are not available yet.
Documents
What is in the sales PDF?
A customer-facing summary of what the product does and who it is for. Limitations and unfinished work are left out before the AI writes it.
When are the documents updated?
When you press Regenerate. On Pro and Max you can also turn on making them again on every push to the main branch, for 1 credit each; self-hosted, on every push. A commit that changed nothing is skipped.
Security and data
Does the AI see my code?
Yes. To write scripts and documents, parts of your code are sent to Claude, Anthropic’s model. Self-hosted, that goes through your own Claude account.
What do you keep when I sign in?
Your GitHub username, name and picture, and which repositories you added. Never your GitHub password or access token.
Are you SOC 2 certified?
No. We do not claim any certification today. The security page says exactly what MotionRepo does.
Pricing
How do I pay?
Choose a plan on the Plan page of your dashboard and we send you an invoice; your plan changes as soon as it is paid. Card and UPI payment online is coming. Prices in rupees are plus 18% GST.
What happens when I run out of credits?
New work waits until your credits start again on the first of the month. Extra credits are ₹999 for 3 and never expire. Everything you already made stays available.
Is there a free trial?
Yes: 14 days and 6 credits, enough for the PDFs, a teaser and a one-minute walkthrough of one repository. Trial videos are 720p with a small MotionRepo watermark. No card.
When are credits given back?
Whenever the failure is ours: the AI limit, a timeout, the network, a bug. A video cut off partway keeps its work, and Continue finishes it for free. Credits are not given back if you discard that work or remove our access to the repository while it runs.
Can my team share a plan?
Yes, on Max. Five people share its 50 monthly credits and their repositories; invite them by GitHub username. More seats are ₹2,499 each a month.
